What is Wordisode?
Wordisode is a website focused on teaching Japanese in a fun and interactive way. Our goal is to teach you Japanese in not only the fastest and most effective way but also in a way that's so fun and motivating you won't ever want to stop. Maybe you're thinking “That's impossible! Learning can't be fun” but the reason we made this site is to prove you wrong. Wordisode combines a highly effective SRS flashcard system with Japanese media immersion to get the best from both worlds. On our site, you simply select a series you find interesting, add the deck of what you want to watch, learn the words from that deck, and then watch the series in Japanese, it's that easy! In just a couple of weeks, you can go from knowing not a word of Japanese to watching a show in its native language and understanding it. That's the power of Wordisode.
Why Wordisode?
Wordisode uses scientifically proven methods for learning language. Language immersion is the act of surrounding yourself with the language you want to learn like listening to audiobooks or watching series in the language you want to learn even though you don't fully understand what they are saying. Immersion is one of the best methods to learn a new language because of the brain's amazing ability to pick up on patterns. Think about it, how do you think you learnt your native language? That's right, by repeatedly hearing it being spoken by your parents and people around you. The problem with immersion is that it's slow and boring at the beginning when you don't understand anything, and that's where the SRS flashcards come in. Studying flashcards using an SRS algorithm is one of the best ways to learn and remember words from a new language. The problem with flashcards is that you don't learn in what context the words are used or how you can use them in sentences. But when you now combine these two methods into one, you get something fantastic. Learning the words before you immerse yourself makes it much more enjoyable, and you learn new ones by understanding the context.
Why learn Japanese?
Because it's fun! Learning a new language is one of the most rewarding things you can do in life. Not only does it open a whole new world of media to explore, but it also allows you to make a lot of new friends. It also gives you tons of bragging rights to the friends you already have. And if fun and bragging rights aren't enough for you, it's also been shown that learning a new language can decrease the risk of brain diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia. Not to mention it looks great on your resume! It's hard to find a reason not to learn Japanese really.
